Clarifying CHAMPS Expectations for all Classroom Activities

As previously mentioned, the importance of classroom management plan is to explicitly define clear and consistent behavioral expectations for all instructional activities and transitions. Thus the first step is to create a list. Then, using this list, an educator can apply the CHAMPS acronym (conversation, help, activity, movement, participation, and success!) to each activity to help define specific expectations during that time. In the next two posts I will give examples of utilizing CHAMPS for instructional activities and transitions that would occur in my third grade classroom. On a side note, I would also be sure verbally give expectations to students before the lesson as well as post the CHAMPS expectations during the activity (such as in the photo shown below).
